Throughout the process of preparing the Regional Waste Plan and 1st Review the aim has been to obtain the widest spectrum of views as possible. Extensive consultation has been undertaken to find out the views of the general public, public bodies and organisations, business and industry, voluntary organisations, environmental groups, other interest groups and the waste management industry.
To date, three public consultations have been carried out:
- Consultation on the North Wales Regional Waste Plan 1st Review:
15th October 2006 – 29th February 2008
- Consultation on the Hazardous Waste Supplement:
14th October 2005 – 25th November 2005

A consultation on the North Wales Regional Waste Plan was undertaken from 15th October until the 29th of February.

The following documents were the subject of consultation:
- The Consultation Draft Regional Waste Plan 1st Review Core document
- The Consultation Draft Regional Waste Plan 1st Review Technical Companion
- The Life Cycle Assessment and Sustainability Assessment of the alternative strategic waste management Options
- The Environmental Report on the alternative strategic waste management Options
- The strategic Health Impact Assessment of the alternative strategic waste management Options
- The Sustainability Assessment report / Environmental Report on the generation and assessment of Areas of Search map
Consultation activities included:
- A website with on-line survey (now closed)

- A strategic stakeholder meeting
- An industry day
- A series of 3 public focus group meetings
- Community group meetings in each Unitary Authority
- Random postal survey

North Wales Regional Waste Plan 1st Review Consultation Report
In order to respond to and address comments received during the consultation a Consultation Addendum Report has been produced by the Regional Waste Group. The report details the responses received during the consultation and provides responses to them. North Wales Regional Waste Plan 1st Review Consultation Addendum Report

A review has been carried out in relation to the issue of hazardous waste planning. The requirement has been to prepare and publish locational criteria or policies as an addendum to the RWP that will guide future proposals for hazardous waste treatment and disposal facilities. A Draft Report was prepared and has been the subject of a public and key stakeholder consultation which commenced on Friday 14th October 2005 and ended on Friday 25th November 2005.

Raising Awareness
Publicity leaflets and posters were produced and distributed in the Region in July 2003 to raise awareness about waste issues in general and to the fact that a Regional Waste Plan was being prepared for North Wales.
Full Consultation Exercise
The Draft Regional Waste Plan was subject to full consultation for a period of six weeks from 1 October 2003 to 12th November 2003.

The Regional Waste Plan
The Waste Plan can be viewed and downloaded from the “Regional Waste Plan” page on this Web Site and can also be viewed at your Local Authority Planning Department.
The Waste Plan can be purchased (subject to availability) for £10 from your Local Authority Planning Department which will be payable to Denbighshire County Council.
The Waste Plan is also available in CD format and can be purchased for £10 per copy from Denbighshire County Council.
